Improper Bostonian: Chris Wallace Portrait

22 Jan

I got an email from the Improper Bostonian near the beginning of this month. She was requesting a portrait of Chris Wallace to accompany an interview they would be running later in January. Chris Wallace is a news anchor for Fox News; most notably, he is the guy who had Bill Clinton losing his cool on the air. Anyway, the AD asked for a standard portrait of Mr. Wallace that would run-full page across from the interview. After gathering reference, I drew up a likeness of the fellow:

Jonathan Cusick

12 Jan

Jonathan Cusick is a very talented illustrator and caricaturist whose work strikes a perfect balance between realism and comedy. Whether he’s drawing celebrities, politicians or just plain old every day folks, Cusick imbues them with a personality that, if only for the moment, makes them larger than life. His work has won accolades from the Association of Illustrators (AOI) and Design and Art Direction (D&AD). And he’s met the Prince of Wales. Now that’s something most illustrators don’t get to do…

Away for a Month

4 Jan

Happy New Year Everyone!

What better way to start off the year than to take a vacation! This year, I’ll be flying to Cambodia and Vietnam for a month so I won’t be accepting any new assignments until February 11th. I will however, try to check my email once a week.
To make up for my absence, I’m going to make this blog extra long! Starting with a new illustration I did for Orange Coast Magazine:

Happy New Year!

1 Jan

Happy New Year from Illustrophile!

We’re going to be back with new features starting next Monday. Instead of featuring people on a daily basis though, we’re going to try featuring people for a whole week instead!

We’re also hoping that someone can help us with the site, by helping us spruce up the Wordpress template and possibly making it so that you can post your news more easily. If you’d like to offer your services, please send an email to charlene@charlenechua.com regarding Illustrophile.

See you on Monday!
