DISHING ABOUT DIVORCE

2 Sep

Hello Everyone!

So earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to do a feature illustration for More Magazine which is always a great joy for me. I've mentioned it in my previous post but I have to mention it again.. the Art Director is an absolute blessing to work with!

The article for this illustration focuses on divorce; particularly on women's strong support network and their tendencies to vent as a form of communal therapy. Believe it or not, statistics indicate that more male suffer feelings of despair compared to women after they've experienced a break up of a marriage (Read more...)

Mac Money Managers

11 Aug

Hi Everyone,

So here's some illustrations I did for Macworld's June 2010 issue. The article compares personal finance tools for the desktop, iPhone, and Web so that disorganized people (like me) can manage our money more efficiently.

For the roughs, I tried to incorporate the idea of 'managing your personal finances' by drawing some common house chores that required organization. Ie. kitchen storage and raking leaves (except the man is raking money).

The Art director wanted to go with the 3rd sketch. Around midnight though, I pitched a new idea to her- take a look below.

For the opening illustration, (Read more...)

ALERT** Beer Smugglers!

28 Jun

Lots of craziness over here in Toronto if you care to know (if not, scroll down):

The 10 sec Earthquake--> I seriously thought I overdosed myself with coffee when my computer starting shaking.

G20--> Time machine in action; looks like we went back in time and started behaving like cave people.

Now to add to all that, here's an illustration I did for Milwaukee magazine.
The article is about New Glarus' Spotted Cow beer. The beer is only available in Wisconsin and the article tells of our attempts to sneak the Spotted Cow out of Wisconsin.

My Process:

Illustration for Westchester Magazine

Here’s something I did for Westchester magazine. It was for an article featuring some badass ideas for a girl’s night out. I’m not sure what is was, but I got really excited while doing this illustration. Here were some of my initial concepts.

I drew out the fun sporty activities suggested in the article and tried to add a girly twist to it. The boxing sketch was my favourite so the Art Director let me go with that one. I have a girl boxer at the corner ring. But instead of having a coach or water boy on the sidelines, (Read more...)

More Magazine Summer Issue

28 May

Just a quick post,

I had an opportunity to do the feature illustration for More magazine and just got my copy in the mail early this week. The illustrations were for an article about how the different genders cope with divorce.

I absolutely love illustrating for More. The AD always gives me meaningful articles to work with and my brain always gets a good workout from it as well. Ladies check out More Magazine in your local bookstores if you get a chance; and guys too, of course :)

A sneak peak at the contributors’ page (I'm there at the (Read more...)
