Visiting Zuza Krzysik’s site is a bit like stepping into a Zen garden. When you do get to the portfolio, the work is a clean, modern interpretation of European-Japanese art.  Style takes a sharp turn in the animation department – The Short Western in particular has a much more stylized look, which is not a bad thing since it contrasts well with the rest of the work.

Aaron Blecha has a very fun site that is loaded with wacky illustrations of monsters, mad scientists and other minions. Check out his super animation reel for a glimpse of his critters in action!

German Casado has a nice collection of rough, sketchy work on his site. Check out the process section for visual notes on how he blocks in color to create form.

Jessica Rae Gordon’s  collages stand apart from the usual punk-inspired aesthetic by employing subtle, earthy color schemes in favor of psychedelic neons.

Dan Santat is not only the creator of the Disney cartoon The Replacements, he’s also an extremely versatile and accomplished illustrator.  His Flickr account holds a trove of his best work for both adults and children.

Character designer, animator and illustrator Alex Amelines has a body of work across several disciplines, but his quirky 3D characters are what really catch the eye. Simple yet full of energy, his critters appeal to young and old alike.

Andy J Smith does great work for the children’s market. He has a masterful approach in combining color and movement, a skill he probably honed while working in animation (his credits include Courage the Cowardly Dog and Sheep in the Big City).
