Cover for Bookmarks Magazine

Daniel has several new pieces posted on his website after a very busy fall.  Most notably is the new cover for Bookmarks magazine – available at Borders and Barnes & Noble now.  Bookmarks had previously only used stock imagery and this is their first foray into using an illustrator.  They were very happy with the results and more covers are planned for 2010.  Purchase a copy while you are out Christmas shopping and reinforce that custom illustration sells better than stock.

Phil LePine’s work is really quite something, although when you consider he’s been at his job for nearly a quarter of a century, it’s little wonder that his work spans a variety of styles. It’s an inspiring portfolio because illustration these days has become so specilized most people only work in a very limited styliztic range.

Caspar Williams does some neat cartoon style illustration that is punctuated by bright neons and the odd typographical element. Fun stuff.

Designer/illustrator Victor Melendez’s work is a playful tribute to his Mexican heritage. I really like his charming lunchadores. Check out his design portfolio for some impressive stuff as well, and his toy for Speakerdog.

Aaron Blecha has a very fun site that is loaded with wacky illustrations of monsters, mad scientists and other minions. Check out his super animation reel for a glimpse of his critters in action!
