Maral Sassouni is our first ‘illustratot of the week’ for the new year at Illustrophile! That’s right – for this year, we’re going to feature folks for an entire week! We hope that the extended exposure will help the people we feature, and that it will give readers more time to appreciate their wonderful work.

Ric Stultz does a wonderful job marrying simple, almost child-like forms with just enough maliciousness that make you think twice about calling them ‘cute’. Check out his new work for an upcoming show at Open Space Beacon.

permanent

Permanent Cafe is the somewhat enigmatic creator of these faux-50s paintings. Painted with acrylic and gouache, the art looks like it was lovingly painted from references of old photos, magazines and Sears catalogs.

Stijn Felix

5 Oct

stijnfelix.jpg

Belgian illustrator Stijn Felix has a stylistic range that curiously doesn’t hamper his illustration skills. Probably because he has an incredible grasp of both the human figure and environments (just look at his sketchbook!). He does wonderful artwork for theatre and music that carry stylistic undertones of the early 20th century.
