Designer/illustrator Victor Melendez’s work is a playful tribute to his Mexican heritage. I really like his charming lunchadores. Check out his design portfolio for some impressive stuff as well, and his toy for Speakerdog.

Andy Smith’s graphic illustration work looks simple, but on the other hand clearly demonstrates that sometimes, simplicity is key to getting the point across. Simple lines, strong textures and colors define his design and illustration work.

Asa Shatkin maintains a neat portfolio/ blog that showcases his work and sketches in the same place.  His recent work features some very nice use of textures in conjunction with his stylized artwork.

Dan Matutina is a designer and illustrator from the Philippines who combines his talents to make whimsical looking images with a purpose. Check out his Evil Resign piece, which is an interesting update of political artwork.

Creative multi-tasker JKR creates illustrations and graphic design work in the course of his business. He also paints very nice portraits of urban scenes, like this carpark in Germany.  Do check out his illustration portfolio for his radically differet style there.

Jonathan Calugi’s work is very graphic, walking that fine line between design and illustration. He successfully marries the two, however, and clearly demonstrates how they can work together nicely on paper goods and apparel.

Onemannbrand is a one man…. brand. Combining design, illustration, branding and advertising, his illustrated works have edgy commercial appeal. He also has some very nice visualization pieces (artwork done for approvals in advertising before photo or video shoots).

Although he works in several media, Will Scobie’s work is immediately distinctive for its graphic style. Interestingly, he also creates electronic music, which I suspect goes pretty well with his illustrations.

His online portfolio is just getting started, but Joseph Carpenter’s punk-inspired work leaves viewers wanting more. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for more eye candy!
