Cover for Bookmarks Magazine

Daniel has several new pieces posted on his website after a very busy fall.  Most notably is the new cover for Bookmarks magazine – available at Borders and Barnes & Noble now.  Bookmarks had previously only used stock imagery and this is their first foray into using an illustrator.  They were very happy with the results and more covers are planned for 2010.  Purchase a copy while you are out Christmas shopping and reinforce that custom illustration sells better than stock.

Ok I’m not sure why I haven’t featured Leigh Young yet, because I know I’ve been meaning to for a while. She has a lovely style that focuses on pinup girls who aren’t thin as a stick.  Check out her shop too for various neat stuff to buy for your bag/ desk/ cellphone.

Jacob Thomas‘ work features interesting color palettes combined with a indie-inspired drawing style. Yet his work appeals to even the most corporate clients; among other things, his work has appeared in white-collar-exclusive Forbes.

Specializing in ‘contemporary pop and lounge art’, Mandy Reinmuth creates stunningly stylish vector illustrations of beautiful people chillin’ out at beautiful places.  Her work is available as prints from Posterlounge, and several other online retailers.

There should be a category between high-brow and low-brow art, because Vincent Agostino’s artwork would fit there perfectly. He does great portrait paintings, and the odd monkey on a bicycle. Vincent is part of Hot Trash Studios (which includes previously featured Benjamin Johnson)

Painter and illustrator Danielle Lamberti’s work creatively updates a retro notion of cute with modern sensibilities. While it’s hard to make out online, some of her work includes glitter, which surely adds to the girlish touches!

Seattle-based Sasha Barr creates fine print-based illustrations and posters with minimal colors. I love the effectiveness of restricted palette artwork – as the old saying goes, sometimes less really is more. Check out his store for great (and affordable!) serigraph prints that would look great in any home.

Carrying on one of the oldest forms of illustration is Italian artist/illustrator Valeria Brancaforte. Armed with a degree in Slavic languages and a passion for printmaking, her illustrations fuse traditional printmaking techniques like linocuts with digital colors.
